DESCRIPTION

Mopping up after the bombardment of Cape Gloucester while the American cruiser returns to base are: (left to right, all shirtless) Seaman 2nd Class Dominick Gresinanno of Brooklyn, New York, Seaman 2nd Class Pandillis Perris of Bronx, New York, Seaman 1st Class Edward Presutti of Staten Island, New York and Seaman 2nd Class Daniel Koepp or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Cape Gloucester was located in New Britain, New Guinea (present day Papua New Guinea).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Robert Doyle was a civilian war correspondent for the Milwaukee Journal during World War II, covering the experiences of Wisconsin troops in the 32nd "Red Arrow" Division, an infantry division of the United States Army National Guard. The "Red Arrow" Division consisted mainly of soldiers from Wisconsin and Michigan.
