Vin Fiz Evidence

Vin Fiz Evidence | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
Jesse Brabazon, pioneer aviator from Delavan, displaying fabric from the Vin Fiz, the airplane in which Calbraith P. Rodgers made the first transcontinental flight. In 1913 Brabazon displayed this material to prove to audiences that the wreckage he bought, rebuilt, and flew was the Vin Fiz. It is more likely that Rodgers crashed in his backup plane and that Brabazon unknowingly bought that wreckage. Brabazon's rebuilt plane burned in 1913. The fabric advertising Vin Fiz (a new soda pop manufactured by the Armour Co.) displayed here by Brabazon in 1953 is probably authentic.
