Color brochure advertising the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Minneapolis Railroad's Hiawatha, the first streamlined steam locomotive. Hiawatha trains boasted a cruising speed of 100 miles per hour.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Hiawatha was more of an image and a brand name than a particular engine, and in fact, the name was applied to at least four different engine models. In the post-diesel era the Hiawatha engines were downgraded to freight and local passenger service. None are known to exist today.
