Charles Whittlesey, Geologist
Carte-de-visite portrait of Charles Whittlesey (1808-1886), American Geologist. Fought in the Black Hawk War. Opened a law office and newspaper in Cleveland, Ohio. Worked as a topographer, geographer, and structural geologist and corresponded with Lapham. Handwritten text on the image reads, "Char. Whittlesey - Cleveland Ohio, Oct. 30, 1895 (?) - Geologist of Ohio."

Images include portraits of geologists, botanists, sculptors, and authors.
