DESCRIPTION

Carte-de-visite photomontage double portrait of the geologist and zoologist, Jean Louis Rudolphe Agassiz (1807-1873). Founded the Museum of Comparative Zoology in 1860. Founding member of the National Academy of Sciences in 1863. Shown simultaneously sitting and writing at a table. Handwritten inscription at the bottom reads, "Agassiz and Agassiz."
