Elaborate wraparound porch reconstructed in 2001. Schofield lived here from 1883-1925.

Built about 1868 by William Brunquist, an early Oconto lumberman and general store owner, for $6,500. In the early 1870s, Edward Scofield married and acquired the house. Scofield ran the Scofield-Arnold Lumber Company headquartered in Marinette; in 1887, he was elected to the state senate, and in 1897, he began a two-year term as Wisconsin's last Civil War veteran governor. Later owners included Marion Scofield (Edward's granddaughter) who removed a large front porch, and Judge James Martineau.
