Additional Information: | The Scott house is a two and one-half story Queen Anne style house that has an irregular plan and a complex hip and gable roof. The hosue is covered with wood shingles and the gable peaks are decorated with curved bargeboard and cross pieces. Windows are largely single light sashes and there are bay projecting from the east and south elevations. These bays are covered with wood shingle overhangs. The front entrance has a gable-roofed porch with large wood-shingled piers and a wood-shingled balustrade. A side porch features similar details. The Scott house contributes to the architectural significance of the Lake Street Historic District because it is a good example of the Queen Anne style. One of the owners of the Scott house was Theodore Nelson and his wife was Edith Mix Nelson They had a daughter named Geniveve and lived in this house around 1925-1926. |
