SUMMARY
Located in a glen near the Wisconsin River off Highway 78, this district is associated with the Durwards, an important family of pioneer artists and writers, and devout Roman Catholics. The fine remaining structures are in Gothic Revival style: St. Mary's of the Pine Chapel (1866); Charles Durward's studio (c. 1870s); stone studio (1887); the fountain arch (1887); and 14 stations of the cross along a path in the glen. The district is not owned by Saint Camillus Novitiate.
