SUMMARY
Constructed between 1858 and 1934 of local cream brick, this district includes 60 two-story commercial buildings in vernacular forms. The center of commerce since settlement on the 1830s, the district has imposing 19th century commercial blocks on many of the street corners. It also includes a large stone bank in Classical style and a smaller Art Moderne bank, as well as the large Neo-Classical municipal building.
