| The several production buildings of the Gallun Tannery Company at North Water Street are the best remaining examples of the many tanneries that once lined the Milwaukee River. These buildings, constructed between 1826 and 1880 and especially untouched since the turn-of-the-century, are excellent examples of the architectural style, materials, and scale common to second and third generation hide tanning plants. |
