"This gray-brown brick structure in the Beaux Arts style was designed by J.T.W. Jennings, the supervising architect of the University, and bult in 1901 for the School of Engineering. After 1939 it was gradually taken over by the School of Education. It was renamed and remodeled in 1952 to 1954, though the names of nineteenth-century engineers, physicists, and mathematicians remain in the carved medallions around the second story. The administrative offices of the School of Education are here." University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin-Madison Tour Guide, 1988.
