DOE prepared by Heritage Research (2010). 2010: This three-story, Prairie-style, brick apartment includes a raised-basement level. The main (southwest) entrance is centered and adorned with a short, segment arch limestone projecting hood. Each corner contains a slightly projecting block and the main facade features a flat, wooden, parapet overhang. The upper part of the building contains raised brick rectilinear patterns and occasional stone insets. Windows are underscored with limestone sills and regularly arranged in single, paired, tripartite, and quadruple groupings of multiple-pane-over single-pane sashes. A hipped roof garage exists at the rear of the property. Designed by the Milwaukee architectural firm Martin Tullgren & Sons, the subject 6-unit apartment building was built in 1914-15 by owner R.A. Other contractors involved in the building construction include: Riesen & Wilke, masonry; P. Schmidt & Co., cut stone; Quast & Wilke, concrete and cement; J. Romberger, sheet metal; Hackendahl & Schmidt, iron work; and Thompson & Harriman, plumbing and heating. In the late 1990s, the building was remodeled on the interior. |
