Additional Information: | Typical one and one half story cottage of L-shaped plan with most original features intact including moulded window surrounds, original porch, and corner window with brackets. 1973: "The Hommel house is a fine example of an inexpensive Victorian house. During the early 1880s many dwellings of this type were erected throughout Milwaukee. Of particular interest are the perforated pediment-like mouldings which surmount the facade windows, as well as the bracketing under the porch roof. This residence is one of 69 items included in a survey of historic buildings and places in the Walker's Point area conducted during September, 1973. Alterations and Additions (as of 1973): In 1904, the building was underpinned with a tile basement. This work cost $350. No other additions or alterations of major importance have been made." |
