NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2021 The two story, High Victorian Italianate style Nierade Block was built in 1886. The storefront appears to retain its historic appearance with wood-framed windows, recessed door, and wood-framed transoms. The upper level entry door is located at the left side of the National Avenue facade and consists of rails and stiles with tongue-and-groove panes laid in opposing diagonal patterns. The first story brick piers are painted, and the first story is capped by a painted metal cornice. The second story contains three tall double hung windows, capped with decorative panels and a name plate reading G. W. NIERADE/1886. The name plate is capped by a decorative pediment with decorative stickwork half-timbering and scalloped shingle cladding. The pediment breaks through the main cornice of the building. A painted metal, convex-curved square turret roof with diminutive pediment is located at the left corner of the front facade. A smaller, painted metal bellcast finial is located on the northwest corner of the main facade.
