Additional Information: | NOTICE FOR DEMOLITION RECIEVED 03/12/84 BAYFIELD SURVEY FORM (07/1974): General Comments: -original windows still on north side; tall, narrow 9/9 -train doors have the corners cut off making interesting openings (same as boat house owned by yachting club) Bayfield's early settlers anticipated that the extension of rail service would make it the rival of Chicago as a shipping port. The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha line finally connected Bayfield with the south and west in 1883, but by that time the shift to other ports had become permanent. The Old Roundhouse was an engine shed for the railroad and was later used for coal storage. |
