Additional Information: | ROMANESQUE REVIVAL STYLE CHEESE FACTORY WITH ADDITIONSOF CONCRETE BLOCK NOTE: In Falck's book he refers to Ed Klug and Ed Blug, so the actual name is unclear . HAER INVENTORY (07/79): This building is a one-story rectangular facility with a shed roof, made of limestone, and measuring approximately 32' x 58'. It has wood and cement block additions. The building was built in 1877, as the Morrison Cheese Factory, by a farmers' group which leased the ground from Philip Falck. In 1888 Dan Falck purchased the building, and in 1892 sold it to his brother, Louis. In 1915 Ben Krieser bought the building. Ed Klug (Blug) bought the building in 1918 and operated it for 37 years before selling it to the Morrison Dairy Co-Op Association in 1955. The building is used currently for the manufacturing of cheddar cheese. Cream is also sold to area creameries. |
