Additional Information: | "This is one of Mazomanie's oldest and most intact commercial buildings. Many original exterior features remain, including the cast-iron supporting columns on either side of the entrance, the transom light over the door, panelled bulkheads below the display windows. The original brick store was expanded in 1888 by an addition to the rear. The first floor has been used as a general store, jewelry store, hardware store, and warehouse. The second floor was used as the official Village Hall from 1885 until 1893 and has been used for other offices as well. Charles Butz, who was born in Prussia, settled in Mazomanie and opened a general store in 1857. He continued to operate a general store in the village until 1882."
