NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Photo code #2: 75BR-12/17 Fine example of the style on a small but elaborately treated house. All first floor windows and doors have segmental arched openings with corbelled brick hood molds above; windows are 2/2 lite on the first floor and the original panelled entrance door is still intact, as is the splayed wood panelled entrance with the door deeply inset within. The mansard roof has a bracketed wood cornice with semi-circular arched dormers on each side. The dormer windows are deeply inset into the main roof and are covered by the dormer roofs, which are supported by elaborately carved solid brackets. The roof is terminated by a decorated solid cornice. There is a rectangular bay window on the west and east facing facades having a very shallow mansard roof with a bracketed cornice. The rear addition is original and is treated in a similar manner with the main block. Rear porch was removed after 1907. Second Empire style houses are very rare in Green Bay and this is by far the best and most elaborate of the few smaller examples still extant. The house is located in an area adjacent to the downtown commercial district, which is expanding its boundary by the demolition of the older houses in the area.
