LARGE COMPLEX OF ATTACHED BLDGS OF BRICK WITH SEGMENTAL ARCH WINDOWS. WILLOW GRASS CUT FROM LOWER GREEN BAY, DRIED, WOVEN INTO RUGS.

HAER INVENTORY (09/1979):
These buildings were built in 1912 for the Willow Grass Rug. Co. The company cut the willow grass in lower Green Bay, dried it and wove it into rugs. Around 1924 or 1925 Central Wire Cloth bought the operation and then sold out in the 1940's. Not only were the buildings sold but the machinery as well. The new company had financial difficulties subsequently, everything was put up for auction. One of the buyers was Edward R. McCornock whose daughter, Lorraine Kocha, currently owns part of the property. Another buyer was A.G. Krueger, the father of Archie Krueger is currently the president of Alwin Mfg. which now occupies 80% of what was originally the Willow Grass Rug Co. Alwin Mfg. produces dispensing cabinets for paper products.

The buildings are constructed of brick with a sawtoothed roof structure. The buildings have been altered throught the years by additions.

Surveyed February 2008, no change in appearance.
Bibliographic References:(A.) Lorraine Kocha, current owner of a section of the property and daughter of the former owner of Central Wire Cloth, interviewed by N. Senn, 10/1980.
