Additional Information: | Built between 1914 and 1935 according to Sanborn maps. Identical to AHI#'s 223670 and 223671. 2012- This very intact, two-story-tall, rectilinear plan, free-standing duplex residence is one ofthree identical buildings that are located next to each other on the south side of Belknap St. The full basement story of this Craftsman Style building has stuccoed walls and the first story walls that rest on it are clad in wide wood clapboards, the second story is clad in narrow wood clapboards, and these walls are sheltered by the overhanging eaves of the building's hip roof. The main facade of this building faces north onto Belknap St. and it is symmetrical in design and it is dominated by the projecting gable-roofed, one-story-tall enclosed entrance porch that is centered on it. Unlike the other two examples next door, however, this building has now lost its original six-over-one-light double hung windows, which have been replaced with modem one-over-one-light equivalents. -"USH 2 (Belknap St.)" WisDOT ID #8680-00-01 (71), Prepared by Timothy F. Heggland (MAP) (2012). |
