Additional Information: | House is visible in the 1885 bird's-eye view of Waupun. Construction date is approximate. 2013- "This house was probably built around 1870. The house is L-shaped in plan with an enclosed front porch. The front-facing block is lower and most likely predates the rest of the building. This front-facing portion has corner pilasters, wide frieze boards, and returned eaves, all typically associated with the Greek Revival style. Two two-over-one double hung windows are located in the first story of this portion, and larger opening in the second story has been shortened to accommodate a modern vinyl double-hung window. The side wing of the house is taller and was constructed before 1885. This side wing has two wall dormers as well as two windows on each floor of the end wall (the first-story window openings have been shortened to accommodate new windows). The side wing has corner boards and simpler wood frieze boards and moulding. The house is clad in clapboards and has a modern roof with aluminum soffit and fascia. The porch is enclosed with a clapboard-clad half wall below and three-over-one wood double hung windows above." - "STH 49/Main Street", WisDOT ID #6090-06-03/75, Prepared by Justin Miller for GLARC, Inc (2012). |
