Additional Information: | This one-and-one-half-story, brick-faced bungalow is topped with a hipped roof that extends to form the roof of the open front (south) porch that is comprised of three battered brick pier supports. An exterior chimney is located along the home’s west elevation, while an interior chimney rises from the east roof line. Vinyl-sheathed, hip-roofed dormers rise from all four roof elevations. Windows throughout the house are comprised of original, three-over-one-light double-hung sashes (arranged in groups and singly) or three-light examples. This house was built circa 1928 by Joseph and Barbara Stransky, who married circa 1920. As of 1930, Stransky worked as a garage repairman; however, by 1940, the census identified him as an oil station owner. Two years later, during World War II, he was employed as a milling machine operator at the Kaukauna Machinery Company. Joseph and Barbara, who had twin daughters, Virginia and Violet, remained in the house until selling the home to Joseph & Florence Schlaefer in 1958. The house remains in the Schlaefer family. |
