Additional Information: | This farmstead consists of five historic buildings: a Gabled Ell house [225091], a dairy barn [225087], a chicken coop [225089], a corn crib [225088], and a machine shed [225090]. The 2-story Gabled Ell house was constructed c.1900. It is irregular in plan with vinyl siding and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. The front elevation faces west and is asymmetrical in plan with a single front door located at the northern end of the facade; the door is accessed via a small wooden stoop. Windows are 1-over-1 and 6-over-6; all appear to be modern replacements and most are flanked by decorative shutters. The farmstead appears to be in good condition and retains a moderate degree of integrity. The farmhouse is a vernacular building with diminished integrity due to vinyl siding and new windows and is not considered individually eligible. As an early twentieth century farmstead property type, the farmstead contains an animal barn, chicken coop, corn crib, and machine shed; however, historic aerial photos also show that these are only a fraction of the historic collection of outbuildings. At least four secondary outbuildings and one silo are no longer extant. As a result, the farmstead is not considered to contain an intact collection of historic agricultural outbuildings. |
