Additional Information: | This 1 1/2 story Minimal Traditional Side Gabled house was constructed circa 1940. It is rectangular in plan with imitation shake, asbestos siding and an imitation thatch, composition tile roof. The front elevation faces west and is nearly symmetrical in plan. The prominent feature of the west facade is a Tudor-style front gabled entrance with a cat slide roof and round arched doorway. To the north of the entrance, there is a pair of 6-over-1, double hung windows, and to the south ofthe entrance is a single 6-over-1, double hung window. A stone and red brick gable wall chimney is attached at the north elevation, and a small concrete chimney rises from the ridge near the center of the roof. On the south elevation, a pair of windows is set evenly in the gable at the upper level. At the first level of the south elevation, a pair of 6-over-1 windows is set to the west and a small side-by-side window is at the east. The house is in fair condition with a high degree of integrity. The house retains the original cladding, roof material, front windows and door. A number of windows on the south elevation appear to be modem replacements. The house bears some likeness to several kit homes, but a particular house plan could not be verified. In the Village of Forestville, this house is a unique example of a Minimal Traditional house with modest Tudor-style elements |
