Additional Information: | The hosse is sheathed in asbestos siding with wooden shingles in the gables. The property includes a basement barn (AHI #226037). T. Kirk Gillett purchased this 160-acre parcel in 1867. Gillett was born in 1835 in New York State and moved to Wisconsin in 1854. He married Lydia Cowden five years later. Gillett served as the Town of Springvale chair for four one-year terms in the 1870s and was defeated in 1880 in a run for the Wisconsin State Senate. He retired to the Village of Rosendale in circa 1900 and died in 1904; Lydia followed in 1906. The farm remained in the Gillett family into the 1960s. |
