NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' titled "Mount Telemark Ski Area" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The Mount Telemark Ski Area Historic District is a large recreational area set on approximately 730 acres of hills and forest land. At its completion, the complex consisted of the main ski lodge and associated outbuildings; several downhill ski runs and associated equipment; four “residential village” subdivisions; an eighteen-hole golf course and clubhouse; and an airport containing two runways, a terminal building, and several associated buildings. The residential villages and golf course were developed as part of a circa-1970 environmental master plan and their locations were specifically chosen to best utilize the property’s natural features. The airport developed at the same time as the ski resort and allowed the Mount Telemark complex to attract vacationers from across the upper Midwest. The Telemark Lodge was partially demolished beginning in 2021. All other outbuildings and related resources remain extant. Design credits for the Telemark Lodge: Herb Fritz & Associates, Middleton - architect and design concept; Charles Radloff for Gingold-Pink Architecture, Minneapolis - mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural details; Sherwin Janows & Co, Chicago - kitchen consultants; Darrel Howe & Associates, Los Angeles - interior design; Communication Arts, St. Paul - multimedia consultants; Jerry Kubiak Builders, Green Bay - swimming pool construction; Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates, St. Paul - sanitary engineers; Humphries & Hansen, Milwaukee - tennis court construction; Fred Goold for Telemark Land Co., Hayward - site planning
