NOTES
Additional Information:The Valhalla Townhouses are located south of the main lodge, next to the Morgedal ski run. The townhouses were designed by Herb Fritz in 1970 and were fabricated and constructed by the Inland Steel Company. The 28 houses are arranged in four groups; each group contains between six and eleven townhouse units. The groups are arranged in a serpentine pattern determined by topographic contour lines. Each individual townhouse is a two-story gabled ell form. The front-gabled portion typically has a pair of slider windows centered in each story, with a large window box for plantings between them. The “ell” portion typically has a recessed entry in the first story with several sets of slider windows in the second story. Several units have second-story decks. When the units are grouped together, they form a lively, picturesque elevation. All the houses are clad in vertical board-and-batten, the bottom edges of which are cut to differing lengths, suggesting a Scandinavian or Alpine-style aesthetic.
