NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' titled "Northeast Shorewood Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office.
Bibliographic References:SHOREWOOD BUILDING PERMIT FILES. Permit file info per the 2011 survey cites a circa 1922 date of construction. Assessor's information notes a date of 1912. However, a citation in The American Contractor on 6 March 1915, p89 would seem to indicate that the house was built for Samuel A. Connell and designed by C.W. Valentine. It is identified as "roofed" at that time. Indeed, Connell is listed at this address as of 1915 (and through 1919), while Michael Grossman resided at this address as of 1922. Connell was an attorney in the firm of Connell and Weidner. By 1920, he is noted as living in Hartland.
