Additional Information: | The newly inventoried farmstead consists of a house [227012], a tobacco-stripping shed [227013], a tobacco barn [227014], a small three-bay barn 227015], a corn crib [227016], a shed [227017], and a pump house [227018]. The three-bay barn (AHI #227015) is a single-story structure with a side gabled asphalt shingle roof and yellow brick foundation with vertical board siding. It is built into the side of a hill, with a sloping earth ramp accessing the primary (south-facing) elevation's sliding doors. Small vents are present in the gable ends and under the eaves. There are no windows (Figure 12). Based on its appearance, it was likely constructed around the same time as the house, ca. 1880. |
