2014- "The Holy Innocents Parish Complex consists of four contributing buildings (the church [66287] and rectory [227140]; and the school [227142] and convent [227141]); one contributing structure (the underground tunnel [227144]); and one contributing object (the shrine [227143]). The buildings occupy most of the two city blocks fronting onto Waldo Blvd. between N 151h St and Menasha Avenue. The site is landscaped with mature trees and plantings, and also contains several parking areas, paved walkways, and a playground southwest of the school.
The original convent, built in 1932, is a compact, Collegiate Gothic-style residence. The convent is two stories tall, and is clad in the same brick, terracotta, limestone, and cast stone as the 1932 school block. A Tudor-arched door surmounted by a cross is located in the center bay of the east (front) facade. Other windows in the buildings are double hungs similar to those in the rectory. In 1956, a flat-roofed addition was constructed to connect the convent with the school. This sympathetic addition is clad in variegated buff brick with similar limestone and cast stone details on its east elevation. The 1932 block contains a typical residential layout, with center hall flanked by dining room and living room and service rooms at the rear. Upstairs are several bedrooms and a bathroom. The 1956 addition contains a chapel and a large kitchen on the first floor, with twelve small bedrooms on the second floor. The addition also contains a staircase at its south end which mediates between the differing floor levels of the convent and the school. The convent was used until the mid-1970s, at which time the building was converted to a religious education and retreat center. As part of the conversion, several of the small bedrooms were combined to form larger, more usable spaces. The public rooms on the first floor retain their original layout and finishes, including the original stained glass windows in the chapel. The building continues to be used as a teen and young adult religious education center."
