Additional Information: | 2019- This building stands on the historic Lewis C. and Mary Williams farmstead. The property was previously identified in the AHI as the Lewis C. and Margaret Williams Farmstead (22700-227206), but Lewis C. and Mary Williams are more appropriately associated with the property. The structure was not counted among the county assessor’s buildings, and its date of construction is unknown. It appears in the 1937 aerial photo, along with the chicken coop, house, and a small garage (razed). The small rectangular building has a metal gable roof, stone walls, and vertical wood cladding in the gable-ends. A door and window are set on the south wall, with a four-over-three wire window on its side wall. This building is not individually eligible. The farmstead as a whole is also recommended not eligible for listing in the NRHP. 2013- "This farmstead consists of seven historic resources including a house [227200], garage [227201], poultry house [227202], stone outbuilding [227208], dairy barn complex [227204], corn crib [227205], and a pole barn [227206]. Recently constructed resources include a c.1973 hay/cattle shed and a c.1983 grain bin. The stone outbuilding was constructed c.1890. It is rectangular in plan with fieldstone walls and a metal-clad gable roof; horizontal boards are located below each gable. A multi-pane window is located just below the roofline in the eastern elevation. An off-center window opening is located in the southern elevation." -"USH 45: 16th Ave to STH 50", WisDOT#3200-01-02, Prepared by Gail Klein, (2013). |
