Additional Information: | This ranch house was constructed in 1954 according to city assessor records. It is rectangular in plan with an asphalt shingled, side gable roof and a combination of brick and stone veneer on the exterior. The principal elevation faces north onto Horicon Street. The center of the north facade prohects slightly from the house and is clad in stone veneer and contains the entrance as well as a large tripartite picture window. The remainder of the house is clad in red brick. A single stall garage enclosed with a wooden overhead garage door is located at the west end of the house. The house is in good condition with a high degree of integrity as the original cladding, windows and garage door have been retained. However, as a ranch, this house is overall not the best example of the style as it lacks the widely overhanging eaves or overall expressed horizontality that is characteristic of the mid-century house. For this reason and because of the overall proliferation of ranch houses in Wisconsin and across the U.S., the house is not eligible for listing. The property was not previously surveyed. A new inventory record was created for it. |
