NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation.

This one and one-half story Shingle Style house was built around 1890.6 The house is rectangular in plan and is clad in
clapboards with shingles in the second story gables. The house has a large side-gabled roof with two asymmetrical front
dormers. These dormers have wide frieze boards. The roof is clad in asphalt shingles. A full-width integral porch runs
along the front of the house; this porch has Doric columns, a bracketed porch beam, and terminates in a semicircular
"pavilion" at its northern end. Fenestration consists of a variety of window shapes and sizes, including double hungs,
leaded glass, and large-pane picture windows, all of which appear to be original.

The house displays the volumetric qualities typically associated with the Shingle Style.
While the house incorporates several Queen Anne-style decorative elements, including diverse window types and the
asymmetrical fagade composition, the house uses these elements in a "simpler and quieter" way- one of the characterdefining
elements of the Shingle Style, as outlined in the CRMP. The house retains excellent integrity of design and
materials and is recommended as potentially eligible under Criterion C as a good local example of the Shingle Style.
Proposed adjacent project activities will reconstruct Main St (STH 67) in front of the property. City utilities and storm
sewers will also be improved within the existing right of way. The parking along the east (opposite) side of Main St will be
removed. A bike lane will be added within the existing roadway footprint. The existing sidewalk and terrace will be
reconstructed. Although the proposed work will take place within the existing ROW, the project has the potential to impact
the property's setting. A DOE is recommended.

The property had not been previously surveyed. A new inventory record was created for it.
