Additional Information: | This two-story, Front Gabled house was built around 1900. The house is clad in red brick with vinyl siding in the gables. A one-story porch with a brick half-wall and brick piers is located along the front and side elevations. The porch retains its wood entablature with modest brackets. Fenestration consists of one-over-one vinyl double hungs, a large fixed picture window, a paired vinyl sliding windows in the gables. The window openings retain their stone sills and lintels, although the windows themselves appear to be modern replacements. The wide picture window has a wood lintel facing; presumably with a steel beam above. One entry door is located in the front elevation; this door appears to be historic with a wood frame and large central light. A secondary entry door, located at the back of the porch and leading into the side gable portion, appears to be a modern replacement. There is a visual similarity between this property and the house located at 239 S Main St [227903], possibly suggesting that both houses were built by the same builder or developer. See the entry for 239 S Main St, above, for further information. The house is vernacular form with only modest porch details. In addition, the house has replacement windows and replacement cladding in the gables. The property had not been previously surveyed. A new inventory record was created for it. |
