Additional Information: | 2019- This building stands on the historic John D. and Mary Goldsworthy farmstead. County records indicate this barn was built in 1920 and 1924, with large metal-faced additions in 1950. The original barn has a stone foundation. Its original vertical wood cladding has been refaced with metal. The metal roof is new. The west and south elevations have sliding doors, and an earthen ramp extends from the west wall. Nearly all farm buildings have been re-faced with metal cladding since 2014. The barn was included in the 2019 intensive survey as a representative example of basement barns but was not recommended eligible. This building is not individually eligible. The farmstead as a whole is also recommended not eligible for listing in the NRHP. 2014- "This farmstead consists of 8 historic resources including a Front Gabled house [AHI#227911], bank barn complex [227912], two machine sheds [227917 and 227918], pump house [227915], garage [227914], granary [227916], and corn crib [227913]. The bank barn complex was constructed c. 1890 and c.1950. The western most L-shaped building mass was constructed in about 1890 while the two rectangular additions to the east were added in about 1950. The earlier part of the barn has a stone foundation, vertical board and metal walls, and a new metal roof. An earthen ramp is located in the west elevation. Three concrete silos are attached along the barn's north elevation. Sliding barn doors are located in the west and south elevations. A corrugated metal shed is attached inside the ell." -"USH 45: 16th Ave to STH 50", WisDOT#3200-01-02, Prepared by Gail Klein, (2013). |
