Additional Information: | This farmstead consists of five historic resources including a Gabled Ell house, basement barn, shed, machine shed, and small animal barn. All resources are associated in AHI No. 73321. The basement barn was constructed c.1880. It is irregular in plan with a raised stone foundation, board and batten walls, and metal-clad gable roofs. The barn consists of three distinct building masses: the main basement barn, a gable-roofed mass projecting from the barn’s west elevation, and a shed-roofed mass projecting from the barn’s north elevation. Both projecting masses are significantly shorter than the main barn. Five individual Dutch doors of board construction are located at intervals along the raised foundation wall of the south elevation; west of these is a sliding barn door. All doors have small multi-pane transoms above. Another sliding barn door is located in the south elevation of the western building mass. Garage doors, a single pedestrian door, and three multi-pane windows with arched surrounds are located in the barn’s east elevation. Arched 6-over-6 window are located below the gables in the east and west elevations; these appears to be modern replacements. The concrete foundation of a silo is located along the west elevation; the silo itself is no longer extant. |
