Additional Information: | This 2-story Commercial Vernacular building was constructed in 1905. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and a flat roof with simple dentil detailing around the cornice. The building is located at a street corner and its cut-away southeast corner contains the primary entrance. This consists of a recessed glass door; a transom space above the door has been covered by composition board siding. Above the front door is a single 2-over-2 window; above this, projecting slightly above the main roofline, is a date stone. The east elevation contains two replacement shop windows that are of a smaller size than the original; the remaining space above and below the windows has been covered by composition board siding. Above this are two 1-over-1 windows, both of which appear to be modern replacements. The building is in good condition, but retains only a moderate degree of integrity due to the insensitive replacement of the primary shop windows and the loss of some of the second-story windows. Because of its diminished integrity (specifically the loss of its character-defining shop windows), the building is not an especially fine representative of Commercial Vernacular architecture. This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
