Additional Information: | This 2-story Commercial Vernacular building was constructed c.1900 as a drugstore. It is irregular in plan due to its location at an acutely angled street corner. The first story is entirely clad in composition board siding while the second story walls are the original brick. A wood shingled awning spans the facade and most of both side elevations. The front elevation faces south and is symmetrical in plan with a recessed front entrance. Stone veneer siding is located at the base of the recessed entry. The second story of the primary elevation contains a pair of 1-over-1 windows. Decorative brickwork is located below the roofline. The name "MICHAEL COLBERT" is inset into the center of the fagade below the roofline. The building is in fair condition and retains a low degree of integrity due largely to the loss of all shop windows and the covering of the first story in composition board and stone veneer siding. Because of its diminished integrity (specifically the loss of its character-defining shop windows), the building is a poor representative of Commercial Vernacular architecture. This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
