Additional Information: | This 1 1/2 story Bungalow was constructed c.1912. It is rectangular in plan with aluminum siding and an asphalt-shingled hipped roof. The front elevation faces west and is asymmetrical in plan with a 1-story porch spanning the width of the fagade. The porch has tapered wooden pier supports and newer wood railings. Inside the porch is a single door, a single-pane picture window, and a 6-pane window. A front-gabled dormer with eave returns projects from the front roof slope. The dormer contains a large 6-pane window and is sheltered by a metal awning. The building is in fair condition, but retains only a moderate degree of integrity due to the replacement or covering of the original wall material with aluminum siding and the new railing across the front porch. Although the house retains its Bungalow form, its diminished integrity renders it a relatively poor representative of the style. Finer examples of Bungalow architecture can be found elsewhere in Racine (WHPD records 69 others in the city) and the surrounding neighborhood. This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
