Additional Information: | This 2-story American Foursquare house was constructed c.1915. It is rectangular in plan with cream brick walls and an asphalt-shingled hipped roof. The front elevation faces west and is symmetrical in plan. A flat-roofed porch spans the width of the facade; the porch has turned wood railings and is supported by tapered piers that rest on squared brick piers. Inside the porch are two 1-over-1 windows and a single doorway. The roof of the porch has turned wood railings on each open side and serves as a second-story balcony. The second story contains a central doorway with 1-over-1 windows on each side. A hipped-roof dormer projects from the front roof slope. The dormer contains two pairs of single-pane sliding windows. The building is in good condition and retains a fairly high degree of integrity. The house displays the boxy massing, full-width front porch, and symmetrical facade typical of American Foursquare architecture, but is not especially remarkable within the context of American Foursquare houses in Racine (WHPD records 94 others in the city). This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
