NOTES
Additional Information:2014
This two-and-one-half-story side gable house was constructed in 1888 by Arthur W. Greenwood. It is of frame construction sheathed in a combination of wood shake shingles and clapboard siding, and rests on a stone foundation. The steeply pitched side gable roof with an interior cream brick chimney is covered with asphalt shingles and features overhanging eaves supported by decorative brackets and a prominent front (west) facing gable. The front facade features a one-story hip roof porch with large semi-circular openings, an enclosed balustrade covered with wood shake shingles, and cutaway corners with decorative brackets. Windows are a combination of replacement one-over-one, double-hung sash and original fixed.

Arthur W. Greenwood was one of the founders of Greenwood’s State Bank and served as vice president for several years. In 1901 Greenwood, along with another local entrepreneur, Frank Foote, purchased 4 acres of land and platted the Greenwood and Foote Addition along what is currently known as Lake Shore Drive. It was not long before Greenwood built a more substantial residence along Rock Lake.
