This two-story, commercial vernacular building is located at the southeast corner of Main and Lake Streets. The front (north) facade fronts West Lake Street and the side (west) elevation faces South Main Street. It was constructed in 1868 by Enoch Fargo, remodeled and extended in 1899 by Fargo, and partially rebuilt after a fire in 1906. The building is clad in brick. It has a flat roof with overhanging eaves supported by decorative brackets that wrap around from the front facade and extend the length of the side (west) elevation. The front facade features a canted entryway flanked by single-pane, plate glass storefront windows. A multi-light transom spans the length of the front facade, an entry is located at the northeast corner, and an ornamental wood beam supported by decorative brackets separates the first and second stories. Windows are a combination of replacement one-over-one, double-hung sash with rounded arch hoods and stone sills, replacement sliding, and oriel. The side (west) elevation features three entries with modern glass replacement doors on the first story. One entry on the second story has been downsized and replaced with a modern door, while the other is a modern replacement. Both feature rounded arch surrounds. |
