NOTES
Additional Information:2015- This modest Dutch Colonial Revival-style house (ca. 1920) rises from a cut-stone foundation and is sheathed with narrow vinyl siding on the first floor, while the gambrel dormers are covered with wooden shingles. Extending from the front of the house is a flat-roofed porch enclosed with windows and featuring original square post supports, while a one-story wing with second-story porch is located at the rear. Mostly one-over-one-light sash are located throughout the house and are arranged singly and in pairs. Also located on the property, but along N. Duluth Avenue, is an outbuilding (AHI#229739) covered with board-and-batten siding and rising from a stone foundation or footing. A small number of four-light windows punctuate the walls, while a former hay door is situated along the building’s north gabled peak. Likely used first as a small animal barn, this structure is now utilized as a garage.

Built in 1908 or 1909 for son Frank at one corner of a 40 acre parcel owned by Casper Deutsch. This property is identified as owned by C. Deutsch by no later than 1899 and through the late 1920s. As of 1955, Mrs. Anna Deutsch (widow Frank) is listed as living along N. Duluth Avenue; however, it may have been in a house that is no longer extant but on that same historic parcel (maps consistently identify a structure on the parcel along N. Duluth as opposed to along W. Elm). Although listed (with no fire number) as residing along N. Duluth Avenue as of the 1955 city directory, post office carrier William Meiler and his wife Dorothy (nee Deutsch) are identified at this location as of 1961. They wed in 1943; Dorothy died in 2009, while William passed two years later. The property was annexed to the City of Sturgeon Bay by no later than 1990.
