Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2016- This c.1870 gable-roof barn, which would have been constructed soon after William Currie settled on the property, has a rectangular plan and its long axis runs east-west. The original siding and roof materials are not visible because the barn has been sheathed in metal siding; however, it is likely framed and clad in timber. It rests on a fieldstone foundation. Based on the proportions, materials, and early date of construction, the structure may have served as a threshing barn from the period of intensive wheat monoculture. 2014: The c.1880 gable barn has open eaves and has been re-sided and re-roofed with metal. Three c.1920 concrete stave silos are adjacent. |
