Additional Information: | Small plain projecting cornice with paired triangular shaped pediments above the cornice; original multi-paned windows in upper story; ornamental brick and concrete patterns decorate the surface; altered store front; transom windows above store front. Constructed using modern materials of cement, brick, and steel, the simple exterior design exhibits Neo-Classic stylistic devices, including a small cornice, parapet wall and twin pediments visually supported by pilaster forms implied in the brick pattern. Originally the site of the dealership for Hudson, Essex and Packard cars, the Auto Company building has a modern structural frame support, freeing the exterior wall for large window surfaces. The Chippewa Valley Auto Company building is architecturally significant as the best architectural representative serving the needs of the newly introduced automobiles in the early 20th century in Chippewa Falls. |
