NOTES
Additional Information:Small projecting plain cornice with parapet; brick surface divided by full length brick pilasters with stone bases; windows filled in. #650: Willson Memorial Chapel (22-35). Although an important historic structure from the erarly 20th century in Chippewa Falls, the Willson Building, constructed in a very utilitarian manner, does not appear to be architectrually significant as an example of industrial or commercial building. Constructed in 1916 for the Chippewa Valley Mercantile Company, this building replaced an earlier Chippewa Valley Mercantile building which burned in 1915. (A) Chippewa Falls entrepreneur Leslie Willson established the Chippewa Valley Mercantile Company, a wholesale grocery house, in 1903. The original building was built in the site of the present building (A)(B). This building is historically important to t he City of Chippewa Falls as a representative of an early wholesale, commercial enterprise in Chippewa Falls.
