CUT STONE QUOINS. 2016: "The William Currie House is a two-story, brick Italianate residence constructed in 1883. It is box-shaped with a symmetrical facade, corner quoins, and asphalt-shingled truncated hip roof. The eaves are supported by decorative paired brackets. The front (south) facade features a center porch with low-pitched hip roof, metal cresting, and square wood supports with decorative brackets and other ornamentation. Windows have brick segmental arch hoods with keystones and stone sills, and are replacement one-over-one sashes. A one-story, three-sided bay projects from the east side of the house. A pair of brick chimneys extend high above the roof line. A c.1930 detached garage is located just north of the house. It has a mix of wood board and wood shingle siding and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. The property also includes a group of agricultural outbuildings located to the north of the farmhouse. The c.1880 gable barn (AHI No. 229865) has open eaves and has been re-sided and re-roofed with metal. Three c.1920 concrete stave silos are adjacent. The c.1910 animal barn (AHI No. 229866) has a concrete foundation, vertical wood board siding, and asphalt-shingled gable roof. The property also contains three c.1940 gable metal sheds, a modern metal pole building, and a metal grain bin, as well as a c.1960 Ranch-style residence that does not meet WisDOT survey criteria, located immediately to the east of the farmhouse." -"Interstate Hwy I-39 & STH 60 Interchange", WisDOT #1012-01-04, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (2016). |
