NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. The Wagoner House is a one and one-half story side gabled house constructed of stone ashlar. It is set on a stone rubble foundation and possess a central entrance flanked by two-over-two, double-hung sash windows. A hipped roof porch with heavy, turned posts resting on a low concrete wall extends across most of the front facade and historic photos show that this porch was added sometime after 1906. Three multi-pane frieze windows are against the cornice board. The narrow side facades display two-over-two double-hung sash windows. Henry Wagoner was a blacksmith and it is probable that his house was built by German-born stone mason Ludwig Burbach, who built other stone buildings in the area at this time. The Cambria-Friesland Historical Society acquired the property in 1990. The badly deteriorated original summer kitchen that was attached to the rear elevation was removed at that time. In 2006, a board & batten replacement addition was constructed which is complimentary to the rest of the house. Previously surveyed in 1975.
