NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. See also the "Stone Buildings of Rutland" site file. Another surviving Graves building is the Daniel Pond House, built for a prosperous wheat farmer between 1844 and 1850. Set on a hill overlooking the highway, the handsome one-and-one-half-story vernacular farmhouse is constructed of rock-faced limestone rubble with raised mortar joints. Stone quoins laid in alternating directions reinforce the corners and lend an air of formality. Graves added the two wings later. At one time, porches probably sheltered the two wings. The brick chimney is a more recent addition. Covenant/Easement: In Perpetuity. Effective 6-6-1991. A 'covenant file' exists for this property. It may contain additional information such as photos, drawings and correspondence. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office.
