NOTES
Additional Information:The 1873 map indicates the house and S. Sheffield as the owner. By 1890, the property was owned by Arnold Slagg. The property remained in the Slagg Family until at least 1997. Interestingly, one owner, Wilmer Slagg, was a member of the famous Albion Prairie Band that used to accompany the late Senator Robert LaFollete, Sr. on campaign tours. Wilmer farmed here from 1928 until at least 1964. Wilmer also served as treasurer of the nearby Albion Prairie School District No. 5 and was director, treasurer and president of the Hillside Cooperative Creamery Company. The property passed to Wilmer’s son, Stanley, in 1964. Stanley Slagg was an assemblyman who owned the farm through at least 1985. The 1993 map depicts Helen and Lowell Slaag as the owners, of which they remained through at least 1997. The property transferred out of the Slagg family by 2001. The current owner is Anthony Troha.

The resources on this property include a ca. 1873 farmhouse (AHI #4510), two ca. 1900 gable front buildings (AHI #220963 and 220964), and a ca. 1920 dairy barn, two ca. 1920 barns and a ca. 1940 garage, all of which are in deteriorated condition and were not inventoried. However, two outbuildings at the farmstead are of historical interest; they appear to comprise a former one-room school complex (school and privy) probably moved to the farm after it was closed (see AHI #220963 and 220964).
